Re: Our Response to 11 September Plane Crashes

Dear President Bush,

I too am horrified by and grieve the loss of life following the plane crashes last week. But it is very clear to me that additional killing is not the answer.

Instead, I ask you to use the great human and monetary wealth of our nation to:

  1. consider how actions of our government which promote poverty and injustice have contributed to the development of hatred towards the United States
  2. work to reverse those actions
  3. initiate sincere, renewed peacemaking efforts among people at war, including Palestinians and Israelis, without support for one "side" over another
  4. initiate sincere negotiations with Afghan officials for the release of suspected terrorists
  5. call for massive humanitarian aid to ALL people in need, including Palestinians, Afghanis, Pakistanis, and Nigerians abroad

We human beings are ALL capable of doing both good and evil acts. I ask you to choose carefully those acts which represent the best our nation has to offer.

Sincerely,

David A French
